One thing that helps me save money on groceries is making a menu and then write it down on another list. Be sure to write down every single ingredient you need for each meal. My thoughts would be even if you think you might have that item write it down anyway because if you are like me you might forget to check. Then you come home from the grocery store you look for that item and you don't have it.

"This blog post is for you if...."
you or your spouse work outside of the home and if your children attend school. Prepare meals ahead of time for lunches. It's something I'm learning to do. But it saves a lot of money. For instance this week I have been having the creamy chicken recipe I shared on Wednesday along with bake beans. It has been delicious and I have been enjoying it. Caleb's lunches are a different story. He doesn't like to have to wait in the long lines at work to use a microwave so he will take seasoned crackers, chips, sandwiches, wraps or something leftover that doesn't require a microwave. I feel like how everybody does lunches will be a different way but this is something that works for us. Preparing meals ahead of time is a task that will take a while at first. Learning the process of how much you need and then finding a day that you can prepare them ahead of time.

"Grocery Budget"
Something I've been trying to do is...buying only what I need but also keeping one in the pantry if it is food that won't expire soon. Now don't get me wrong I'm not perfect so their is times I buy more stuff than I need.
Just food for thought!

"TACO SALAD"
Defrost a pound of hamburger. Brown it. Drain the grease. Add taco seasoning and however much water the package says. Cook for ten minutes. While that is cooking for ten minutes you can start on the other ingredients. Cut however much lettuce you desire and add it to a big bowl. One package (2 cups) of shredded cheese to the bowl. Add however much french salad dressing (our favorite kind of dressing is from save-a-lot here in town) you desire. Add half a bag of crushed Doritos. By now your hamburger should be done. After several times of making taco salad I realized that a whole pound of hamburger was too much for us. We couldn't eat it all. So add a 1/2 pound of hamburger in the bowl and mix it all together and it should be ready to eat. It's delicious.
How much does this meal cost????
Hamburger-$1.48
Taco Seasoning-$0.44
Shredded Cheese-$1.98
French Salad Dressing-$0.43
Doritos-$1.49
Lettuce-$0.46
Total: $6.28

"Corn on the Cob"
I'm about to tell you about the best corn on the cob you will ever tasted. Grill it with the husk still on them for 15 minutes. Take them off of the grill after 15 minutes. Take the husk off, butter the corn, then add salt and pepper to the corn. Eat and enjoy.
I don't know about where you live but this week I got a dozen ears of corn for $1.20 at Walmart and its the best ones we've had yet.
